Proposal for a Strategic Social Initiative:
Decade Of The Heart

VISION

Decade Of The Heart places the awakening of our hearts in the forefront of every person, community, and nation as a gift for all humanity. This act of service involves people of all cultures and beliefs.

The awakening of our hearts provides immediate tangible alternatives to conflict, anger, and competitive interaction. It allows everyone and anyone the necessary personal and cultural permission to feel and act their own truth, as experienced from a universal connection of the heart.

RATIONALE

Humankind is at a crossroads. We may be at the threshold of nothing short of a profound change in the evolution of human consciousness.

How can humankind overcome thousands of years of conflict and heal itself? Can we transcend the constraints of our various individual selves, cultures, faiths, nationhoods, and personalities? Can we evolve beyond the inherent limitations of collective ego that have led to a long history of cultural, political, and religious conflict, by appealing to the deeper wisdom that resides in each of our hearts? Is there a way to appeal to the collective higher nature of the human race? Has it ever been clearer that we cannot afford not to do this?

We believe the answer is as deceptively simple as the need to embrace it is urgent. As greater numbers of people than ever before rediscover the imperative of honoring the earth, identifying with spirituality, and taking a responsible view of our future on this planet, a change is already taking place. While the apparatus of conflict is abundantly supported, Decade Of The Heart is devoted to developing the structures of healing and mature leadership that are desperately needed to focus the work of the many in all walks of life in a concentrated, universally attuned, and resonant network.

The larger success of Decade of the Heart requires, on a global and individual level, a surrender to a deeper wisdom that will reconcile our finite selves to our higher nature and in so doing generate the levels of personal and global forgiveness needed for humankind and our planet to heal.

Many teachers over thousands of years have spoken of humankind's higher destiny, the connection to all of creation that is engrained in our being. Connecting with this higher power requires yielding our individual everyday sense of being in the world to a greater good, a deeper wisdom. Decade Of The Heart offers a framework that supports this stage of our development, which is evidenced everywhere in the overall change in perspective that has evolved over the past few decades.

Decade Of The Heart undertakes to empower people by assisting a leap beyond suffering to individual and global awakening.

CONNECTIONS

As a major social initiative, Decade Of The Heart provides appropriate reassurances and a context large enough to assist us in connecting through our hearts to ourselves and to one another. This naturally develops a stronger inner knowing and allows our highest callings to be manifested.

Decade Of The Heart creates a coherent network of organizations and individuals who are inspired to encourage a culture of forgiveness, creativity, and compassion. We invite organizations and communities to participate in this network to further this worldwide connection.

Through the use of mass media, websites, model initiatives and co-creative partnerships, this network will help communities of individuals at all levels of society to build their own heart-centered networks and activities. The number of model initiatives that exist at on small scale are ready to be applied on a larger scale.

As a social expression, Decade Of The Heart presents us with an opportunity to forgive, suspend judgement and embrace the awakening heart of humanity.
